FAQs
Do you only tattoo?
Nope! Tattoos, illustrations, paintings, murals, and signs. Send commissioned work my way!
How much will it cost to get a tattoo from you?
Depends what you’re getting! Shoot me an email or stop by the shop for an estimate.
Do you tattoo at private events?
I do, depending on the venue and event. Send me an email at daveshurmantattoo@gmail.com to discuss further!
How should I keep my new tattoo clean?
Cling Wrap:
Keep wrap on for 1-4 hours
Remove and wash with fragrance-free antibacterial soap and clean hands only (no loofas/washcloths)
Wash at least 2-3 times a day, or when visibly dirty for the entirety of the healing process
pat dry with a paper towel
Moisturize with a thin layer of fragrance-free white lotion or cocoa butter when tattoo looks or feels tight and dry.
Second Skin:
Keep the bandage on for up to 5 days
Removing the bandage is easier under warm running water
Wash with fragrance-free antibacterial soap and warm water with clean hands only (no loofas/washcloths)
pat dry with a paper towel
Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free white lotion or cocoa butter as needed
If your bandage starts to come off and expose your fresh tattoo or you wish to take your bandage off early, completely remove your bandage and follow the cling wrap instructions below.
General Aftercare
Do NOT over moisturize!
Do NOT fully submerge your new tattoo in water such as pools, hot-tubs, ocean, etc. until tattoo is completely healed. The shower is ok
Do NOT pick or scratch (this can ruin your tattoo!)
Keep your fresh tattoo out of direct sunshine
Tattoos generally take 2-3 weeks to completely heal
Once your tattoo is completely healed, using moisturizer regularly and sunscreen when you are out in the sun will help keep your tattoo bright and vibrant
Tattoos are very easy to take care of. Don’t overthink it. If you keep your tattoo clean, you’ll avoid infection and your body will take care of the rest. If you are unsure about something or have any questions at all, PLEASE call the studio or email me directly at daveshurmantattoo@gmail.com.
